To be able to connect to the new server you need to update your clients with the updater.
If you experience any problems with the updater then please open the file PlaneShift/data/servers.xml with notepad or a text editor and change
ip="planeshift.skylabhost.it"
to
ip="62.173.168.9"
Enjoy!!

Dear Planeshifters, starting from today, you can finally experience the effects of different weapons on armors!!
The rules team has analyzed the resistance of various armors to different types of damage, like slash, blunt, pierce. This means certain weapon types will do better against some armors and worse against others. For example you can expect a mace to be a good deal more effective against plate mail than a long sword.
This also applies to monsters so be sure to test different weapons against them. Use this new feature to gain tactical advantage over your opponents ( Tournaments included! ) Please use this forum thread to report how this feature works for you.

Dear Planeshifters we worked on the last weeks into making our web site more interactive!
In particular there are 4 new areas you can access to :
- Guilds page: Using the new Guilds page you can find the complete list of guilds in Planeshift including the member-count and links to guild pages when available. Visit if you want find guilds you have never heard about or go to your guilds page quicker when you are already at planeshift.it.
- Events page: Here you can see important events which are planned for the next 365 days. It is good to know when to be online and further you can make preparations for important times at Planeshift.
- Players Wiki: can be found via the Community folder on the main page. The Wiki is not new but offers many FAQs, guides and descriptions. Has been created by players, and you can contribute to it as well. It is a real help for beginners to gather information about the game quickly and it helps veterans to be up to date with details of the game.
- Live Webcam: Last but not least we have added a Webcam where you can see live-streamed events by GMs or Developers. We stream usually when a major event is going on.
We hope this bring new fun to your PlaneShift experience!

We have just moved our roleplay server to a better and faster one!! Many thanks to Fragnetics, who have hosted our main server for many years with a friendly and seamless service!
That server will remain available for us as a development server, so our great relationship with Fragnetics will continue!
The new server is donated by Skylab and it's located in Europe. All european players will experience a major improvement compared to the old server located in Singapore. To use the new server, just update your clients and you will see in the servers list a server named "skylab". Enjoy!!!

The CD can be freely downloaded at no cost, but you cannot resell it or distribute it in any way. Download it here. Enjoy!

Hi Planeshifters! With the release of 0.5 we got a very stable platform to work with, and now we can focus more on the balancing of the game, and building new feaures. In particular we had one item in our roadmap since long time about improving magic. There have been two main stream of work on this. First is a new and improve particle editor which allows us to easily add more effects to the game and tweak the ones that are present today. The work on the editor is not yet completed, however it has been already been very helpful. We plan to add more effects soon with it. The second area of improvement is to actually make magic more effective and balanced with fighting. Up to now magic has been much weaker than melee and weapons. Now magic is stronger, making it more balanced with the rest of the game, also the skills have been balanced against each other. Here is a summary of the changes:
- First overall increase of average damage for almost all spells. Some have been bumped more then others.
- The K-factor (the little slider on your status window) now actually does something useful. Increasing it will increase overall damage but it will also increase mana usage, spell cast time and the chance that the spell fails. Experiment until you find the *right* value.
- A bug was fixed which caused spell casting time to go to zero. Now spell casting times are always reasonable. Also it is now no longer possible to cast spells while running.
- Some ranges for stronger spells have been reduced to balance them with their increased power.

We have just recently released a patch (0.5.1.1) in order to solve some crashes and add some content. The next time you start the game with pslaunch, it will ask you to update.
Please note: the pslaunch program will need to update itself before updating your client. Don't be worried, just relaunch it until it won't update no more.
Thank you for playing PlaneShift!

Over the last week, the rules team has been working hard on releasing a redesign of the weights and the sizes of items.
This was long needed since there were a lot of inconsistencies like a plant weighing about the same as a box of goods, or a short sword having more size than a staff.
Another update performed is the change of prices. This has been done to better reflect the value of (crafted) goods compared to the effort spent in creating those, as well as make the in-game economy more balanced between source of income and spendings.
On the long run we should like a swordsmen to be able to make about the same amount of money of a miner, or a cook.
The current setup is surely not final, but allow us to playtest the economy.
